Description


This is an antique red soft covered book belonging to JOSEPH LUMB & SONS LTD ....CERTIFICATE OF SHARES.

You will see the front cover has been creased and the back cover is broken on the crease.. inside are FOLDED & CREASED share certificates.

Starts off with Number 1 of course.. this was for 3196 shares at a cost of £10 each owned by WILLIAM LUMB of Park Drive Huddersfield ...bought on 30th November 1891....this share has the red seal part torn.. as do quite afew of the others.. the receipt part of it is on the BACK of the actual certificate.

No. 2 is for the same amount of shares bought by JESSE LUMB on the same date.. and No. 3 was for the same amount of shares bought by JOE LUMB on the same day ...this particular share certificate is torn in half.. No. 4 is for only 3 shares and bought by SARAH ANN LUMB .. No. 5 is also for 3 shares and this was MARY LUMB ... and it carries on with other Lumb members too then No. 8 is WILLIAM LUMB again this time with 2800 shares on the same date and his wife JESSE LUMB having the same amount as well... that is No. 9 ....then on No.10 its JOE LUMB with 2800 shares ..in red pen it says over this cert he was DECEASED IN 1932 .

No. 11 onwards has other peoples names on them for differant amounts.. and quite alot are written over with fresher details as the years went along..

The last one in the book is No. 49 this is to JOHN MARTIN RICHARDSON says deceased 1954 which is typed over it.. and it was for 120 shares and dated 1919.

There is a loose one or two.. and most are creased with the red seal broken , cut out or torn out.

The book has originally been 19 inch x 9 and half inch.

A really interesting ARCHIVE item for anyone related to that company or if that company has a MUSEUM etc... I see they are still on the go but have not moved forward with the times as I can only find a PHONE number for them ...no web page or email address. ...I would have happily offered it to you folks as I have sold many similar items BACK to their original owners via email.

Again an ideal item for a LOCAL museum archive.. remember this is a GENUINE share certificate book with all the family details etc which MAY be lost or discarded by someone at a later date... work out whos who and where , what and whenever from this sort of paper material.

   The item(s) are shown next to an English 1 penny which is 20mm dia for scale.

Conversion ... approx... 2.5cm = 25mm = 1 inch
