Seller notes: “A very nice copy of this scarce book, in its rare original dustwrapper, a very unusual survival ... “A very nice copy of this scarce book, in its rare original dustwrapper, a very unusual survival from 1894. The first printing of the first edition. This copy belonged to Anstey's friend, the book collector Horace N Pym. It is signed for Pym by Anstey on the half title page "Horace Pym - Anstey Guthrie", and bears Pym's Foxwold bookplate to the front fixed endpaper. Original green endpapers. 218 pages plus fifteen illustrations by J Bernard Partridge, as called for, all present and correct. The dustwrapper is in very attractive condition, with some wear and creasing, particularly to the spine-ends and corner-tips, and slight age-toning (see pictures). The book itself is in excellent condition, having been protected by the dustwrapper, and has just a little light very bumping to the spine ends and fading to the spine (see picture). Internally clean. Binding sound and square. A very nice copy of this very scarce item.”
