A magnificent retrospective of selected Markey's work that graced the walls of the Oriel Gallery spanning 127 pages.
Markey Robinson 1918 - 1999
was one of Irelands most well known and prolific expressionist artists. World famous his art graces the walls of the rich and famous and in numerous private collections. Markeys technique appears so simple but if one ever attempted to emulate it, they soon realise that his genius was to make his work deceptively simple as it was backed with years honing his skills and distinctive style. It's like 'negative spaces' that he creates makes his art so enthrawling and enigmatic, when viewing his art your own imagination fills in his deliberate gaps.
