Collectable Scales

A little of the inlaid flower stems are missing. The scales and weights have a combined weight of 6 lb 14 ozs. The brass Mordan type scales are elegantly engraved.

Made in Birmingham (Digbeth or West Bromwich). This item is in good condition apart from possible missing a hook for the weight. However this design probably continued unchanged for decades. All parts are at least hand finished if not entirely hand produced, by forging and simple decoration by the blacksmith.

Not quite sure what material they are made from ??. One set, the one on the right of the two in the last pic, I have listed the other separate.

They are made from cast brass. The larger 3 weights are stamped with proof marks. The weights are marked. make Supersized seem small. Get images that. They would make a great addition to any collection.

Here we have a Landers Frary & Clark hanging scale that is complete with original weight and hook. It is marked Landers Frary & Clark, Columbia Patent Warranted. No cracks, breaks, welds or repairs.

We have no idea how old they are I would guess the 1950`s. They are in working order but we have not tested their accuracy.

Of course these scales show signs of use as they have had a working life but they are in fully working order.
