Made in England

A specialist camera and optical equipment manufacturer based in Leeds, Kershaw-Soho was originally a family business run by Abram Kershaw and sons. In the early to mid-20th century, the family sold the company to the J. Arthur Rank Organisation, where it was merged with Soho Ltd, another British camera manufacturer absorbed around the same time.

Kershaw-Soho were well-known for many optical components including their patent protected focal plane shutter which was used by several other makers and their Soho Reflex range of large-format SLR cameras.

As the company directors were keen bird watchers, many of the companys cameras were named after birds. Its widely believed that the company stopped producing cameras to pursue their interests in cinema projectors.

Kershaw-Soho cameras are now widely sought after, their nostalgic aesthetic a reminder of some of the early and exciting developments in the world of photography.
