The bases are a blue stone which I have described as marble but it could easily be either howlite sodalite or lapis ???. - I am not certain exactly which stone this is as most of these can look very similar.
It will date to the 18th century and I would think it is French. It was found on an antique market here in the South of France, it had been attached to a later silk ribbon, as this was not original it has been removed.
The top is a thick beveled glass piece and the closure is an S snap. The inside is lined in the original French blue silk, which is showing signs of age. Condition of the outside is very good. Style French.
The print is not under glass. The overall effect is very charming. There is a small puncture and there are several creases. The marble is remarkably intact with just a few very small nicks consistent with age.
