Sanyo: the brand
Founded in 1949 by Toshio Lue, Sanyo started life as a small Japanese electrical manufacturer. But right from the start the company had global ambitions - Sanyo means 'three oceans' after all. Sanyo achieved their international goals from the 1970s onwards, exporting home electronics to America and beyond. The company suffered extensive damage in the 2004 Chuetsu earthquake, leading to their acquisition by Panasonic in 2009. Sanyo camera products have an excellent reputation for quality and value.
