Major Japanese electronics company Sony produces a large range of products including mobile phones, cameras and audio equipment, including a range of microphones. There are several different types of Sony microphones for different uses, from tie clip microphones to shotgun zoom microphones, computer microphones, wireless microphone transmitters and receivers and many others.

Sony gun zoom microphone

The Sony zoom microphone ECM-GZ1M is a mono microphone that is used in conjunction with a Sony video camera. They are designed specifically for Sony cameras and Sony camcorders that feature the standard 'Multi-Interface Shoe'. This Sony microphone is designed to isolate the sound from your subject and illuminate, or reject, other unwanted ambient noise.

This microphone for Sony cameras has two settings; a 'gun' setting which locks the microphone to pick up sound from a fixed point and a 'zoom' setting which adjusts the sound pick up in relation to the camera lens zoom. When you zoom in with the lens the sound pick up zooms in too. This features requires your camera to have a zoom lens. The microphone is powered directly from the camera.

The Sony STM10 is a stereo condenser microphone with high sensitivity, designed to enable the recording of high quality audio on a Sony smartphone like the Xperia Z2 or some Sony tablets . Sony condenser microphones of this kind are used for audio recording in conjunction with the Audio Recorder app, which is available for Android from Google Play.

This Sony mobile microphone connects to the phone's 3.5mm audio connector jack and can tilt 90 degrees so that you can point it towards the sound source.
