HP are one of the foremost manufacturers of computer hardware for both personal and enterprise level systems. HP produce a range of computer drive enclosures and docks for both their desktop and server systems, including HP SAS 2.5 computer drive enclosures and docks .
Features of HP SAS computer drive enclosures
Drive enclosures are designed to house HP computer disk drives such as SATA and eSATA. They typically come in metallic structures for optimal durability, though can sometimes be found in plastic constructions.
Some drive enclosures operate as adapters in which they support both 44pin (2.5") and 40pin (3.5") hard disk drives. In addition, multiple enclosures, often referred to as bays, will typically include cooling fans to keep the hard drives from overheating and LEDs to indicate which drives are in operation.
HP Serial Attached SCSI drive enclosures vary in their hard disk drive capacities. Some HP SAS drive enclosures are able to support up to four hard disk drives within a single enclosure, others are designed to house just one drive when installing drives for desktop computers. For server systems this number can dramatically with SAS drive bays with enclosures that can support 20 or more 2.5" hard disk drives with total capacities in excess of 250TB.
HP SAS 2.5" drive enclosures can also be found for a range of HPs server offerings such as ProLiant G2/G3/G4/G5 and G6 servers.
As well as enclosures, HP produce a range of hard disk drive (HDD) tray caddies. These function to support and hold the hard disk drive in place and make it easy to remove and then re-insert your hard disk drive. These may come with a metal bracket and drive connector. Tray caddies can be found for a range of HPs server systems such as the HP Blade System Gen 8, HP ProLiant DL series and HP ProLiant ML series.
