Super King Decorative Quilts and Bedspreads
The perfect way to finish off your bedroom, super king decorative quilts and bedspreads add a bit of personality to tie a room together.
Quilts and bedspreads are both bed toppers, but what is the difference between the two? Bedspreads are usually single layer toppers that are lightweight, ideal for summer use or as an extra layer to your duvet on colder nights. They are usually plain or single-coloured but there is a mixture of styles available.
Quilts, on the other hand, have three layers, the top and bottom fabrics and a thin layer of padding in the middle. Squares or diamonds are usually sewn through the layers, creating small sections or 'quilting'. They are usually made from cotton or a cotton blend making them breathable.
Bedspreads
Bedspreads are designed to cover the entire bed, usually even including the pillows. They layer over the top of your usual bedding to protect them or add a pattern or print to your bedroom.
Because they are a top layer, you can choose a design that is more decadent or elaborate than you would for your normal bedding, such as embroidered or foil printed. Choose beautiful silk, satin or elegant jacquard. For summer, soft cotton bedspreads are the ideal choice in simple designs such as traditional seersucker material.
Quilts
As opposed to bedspreads that cover the whole bed, quilts drape over the bedding to cover the bottom half or third of the bed. Because you're able to see your duvet and bedding while using a quilt, it is more important to get a matching or complementary style.
If your bedding is plain, choose an elegant printed design to bring a pop of colour to your room. You can also match yours to your curtains to pull the room together. Traditional quilts came in a patchwork style but you can find all sorts of designs to suit your bedroom.
