Some general stylistic and structural features

To give you a broad overview of the kinds of bookcases Corona manufactures, here are a few of the general features of them all:

  • Overall styles and types: Broadly speaking, Corona manufactures two types of bookcases: square-shaped or rectangular bookcases with shelves arranged vertically and ladder-like bookcases that are built to look like ladders propped against the wall, with the "rungs" serving as shelves. The more traditional rectangular bookcases come in three, four, and five-shelf versions, while ladder-style bookcases usually have five shelves. These types also have some other differences between them, which we'll touch on below.
  • Size and shape: Both the usual rectangular-shaped bookcases and the ladder-shaped ones can be anywhere from 100 to 183 centimetres tall. Such units are also generally about 80 centimetres wide.
  • Drawers, cabinets and doors: Not all bookcases are simply vertically stacked rows of shelves. Some may come with a cabinet or set of drawers in the bottom. Some may be totally open, while others have doors. Other bookcases are built like sideboards, meaning they stand low, are wide, and have some combination of shelves and drawers on them. Taller bookcases that come with cabinets generally have the cabinet somewhere on the bottom with three rows of shelves above the cabinet.
Colours and colour schemes

Most of the time, Corona simply allows its bookcases to remain whatever the natural colour is of the wood that comprises them. Sometimes, though, that wood may be painted over in any of various colours, with grey, black, and white being the most common ones.

What kinds of materials are used to build Corona's bookcases?

Pine, with its distinctive light brown and even yellowish natural hue, is far and away the most common kind of wood used to build Corona's bookcases. Beech and oak are two other kinds of wood that you'll sometimes see used. Ladder-style bookcases will use metal -- usually steel -- to construct the frame of the ladder. The shelves will be made of one of the types of wood just mentioned.
