Coarse Fishing Floats and Bobbers
There is a huge range of different types of tackles, including coarse fishing floats and bobbers, used for fishing. These tackles are very important as they ensure you are fishing in the most efficient way possible, but you need to make sure you have the correct tackle for you.
Coarse fishing is freshwater fishing for non-game fish (ie not Salmon, Trout or Char) so you'll catch the likes of Carp, Bream, Roach and Pike. Depending on where you are intending to fish, there are certain rules and regulations to follow. For example, in England and Wales, anyone over the age of 12 must have a rod licence. And you can't just fish anywhere; make sure you've bought the appropriate ticket or licence for where you want to fish. Finally, make sure that you're actually allowed to fish when you intend to: there is no close season for coarse fishing in Scotland but there is in England and Wales (usually 15 March to 15 June for natural coarse fishing waters). However, this sometimes doesn't apply so check locally to make sure.
When to use floats and bobbers
There's loads of fishing tackles to buy and you don't need to have it all. However, no matter what, you'll always need some floats or bobbers in your tackle box. The type of water you're fishing on (river, lake/loch or canal), and what type of fish you want to catch, will influence what sort of fishing float or bobber you want to use. Your choice will also be determined by the fishing technique you're using, for example match, feeder, pole or predator.
