Veteran driver Alex (Judd Hirsch), single mother Elaine (Marilu Henner), aspiring actor Bobby (Jeff Conway), struggling boxer Tony (Tony Danza), and, most indelibly, immigrant mechanic Latka (the brilliant Andy Kaufman), all lorded over by the acid-tongued barbs of diminutive taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito).
