Complete with 36 plates, including a wonderful color lithographed frontis of Steamer "Powhatan" by Sarony & Major, 6 color tinted plates, 9 plates depicting ships, numerous double page cross sectional diagrams relating to engineering and engines. Portrait of Charles Stuart, Civil Engineer and fine profile view of U.S. Mail Steamer "Arctic", both by W.L. Ormsby (bank note engraver). Rebound in the past (perhaps mid-20th century?) in sturdy plain cloth binding, gilt title lettering, all edges gilt. Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition. Please review images and description for details.”
