Nice straight grain with no grain run out. After the usual fitting of the handle to the hammer head I was able to firmly secure the head with the included wedges. The factory wax finish was easily scraped off and several coats of BLO was applied. The hammer is now ready for another 50 years of service. Great product that I would happily buy again.

I ordered two of the 16" beavertooth handles to come to the UK. In the images the kerf had been cut along the top from front to back as you would expect. So I was happy to order. Today's delivery of the handles was a disappointment as the kerf has been cut diagonally and makes these two handles no good for my purpose. It costs too much to send back to the US, so these are basically only firewood now.
