Sony's exclusive baseball series returns to the ballpark with quicker games, a new Online Franchise mode, and a year-to-year saves feature in MLB 14: The Show. The signature Road to the Show mode returns with more logical approach to the game's RPG-like advancement process, and a new pre-draft showcase lets prospects square off before they begin their professional careers. New optional features were designed to speed up games, with Quick Counts beginning each at-bat after several pitches have been thrown, and the Player Lock system asking gamers to control only a single player.<br><br>The popular Franchise mode returns to once again let gamers control every aspect of their favorite team's operations, and MLB 14 takes the mode online for the first time. The Online Franchise mode lets a group of players control scouting, drafting, trades and free agency for multiple teams within the same universe, and gamers can even create custom divisions, schedules, and playoff options. The Diamond Dynasty mode has been updated to let custom teams compete even when users are offline, and the new Community Challenges feature lets gamers design custom game scenarios, set specific goals, and then share their creations with others.<br><br>Playing games in any mode helps players accumulate The Show's new Stubs currency, which can be used to acquire extra in-game content like Road to the Show training points. Gamers who want to get a leg up on the competition can also purchase Stubs from the PlayStation Store. A new dynamic difficulty system was designed to adjust the challenge level based on overall performance, and it has separate hitting and pitching settings for those who struggle or excel in one area. The broadcast team of Matt Vasgersian, Eric Karros, and Steve Lyons returns for its second year of commentary together, and for the first time in the history of the series, MLB 14 supports year-to-year saves, so players can import their Road to the Show and Franchise date into subsequent releases.
