About this product

Product Information

Landstalker for Sega Genesis is a single-player, action-adventure game that will appeal to a variety of gamers. Using an isometric view, you explore vast dungeons and outdoor areas as the character Nigel. Nigel is tasked with finding the great treasure of King Nole on the Island of Mercator. Together with his fairy named Friday, Nigel will eventually stumble upon a plot that threatens the entire world. This RPG will take the average gamer roughly 11 hours to finish, though completists will take 15 to 16 hours to experience every nook and cranny. With gameplay initially similar to popular sword and sorcery video games of its time, Landstalker quickly separates itself from the pack with an infusion of fresh gameplay systems. Landstalker will frequently test your reflexes, asking gamers to jump on platforms and avoid boulders. Obtaining all the treasures of King Nole will require wits as well as reflexes. This Genesis game will frequently throw devious puzzles at the player, which is classic to the genre. Navigation is a breeze thanks to the tight controls. You won't have any problem landing your jumps or attacking the correct foe. The developer, Climax Entertainment, made frequent revisions during development, refining the game to be accessible to gamers of all skill levels. The game slowly progresses in difficulty as the player gets further into the game. If you're a gaming novice, this is a fun first role-playing game to start with. Even if you're an expert gamer, you'll still find that Landstalker provides a challenge.Landstalker is unique in that the abilities your treasure hunter starts with are the same ones he will end the game with. As an experienced adventurer, your character already knows how to fight, climb ropes, and jump long distances. Instead of finding new items, you'll find health and damage upgrades. In addition to the main story, this title also features a number of side quests. These missions are optional, but completing them lets you travel around the map quickly via warp points. It's definitely worth taking the time to finish these quests as you'll frequently need to revisit memorable locations. The graphics are colorful and vibrant. Friendly characters and enemies alike are rendered in a cartoon style. The sprites are larger than normal, letting Climax add more detail to each model. The title is known for never flickering as it scrolls smoothly from level to level.Landstalker's music was composed by Motoaki Takenouchi, who is famous for his work on Sega consoles. Some other Sega games he worked on include Shining Force II and Jewel Master. Takenouchi supplies the game with a whimsical soundtrack that takes full advantage of the system's sound capabilities. Landstalker is one of those games you'll come back to play again and again. Its innovative isometric combat and platforming action make it unique among role-playing games on the Genesis. While the title has no official ESRB rating, it's suitable for children of all ages.

Didn't notice the cover art was turn on the cartridge but that's on my for not looking closer. Could have gotten one in better condition for $5 less from someone else. Oh well, live and learn.
