The opal itself is a bit subdued indoors, and at first glance I thought it might be a triplet, however it is transparent with no backing so that was ruled out. There is no potch or sand specs and it has a greenish hue so I thought perhaps it is a new type of synthetic black opal, but outdoors this opal is extraordinary both in brightness and range of colors. I still don't know 100% if it is a natural mined opal but I am happy I bought it!
