Nomi un tempo celebri come Rizza, Carlini, Ortuso o la Mediolana Band ritrovano la loro storica importanza tra queste pagine, nelle quali si chiarisce anche il delicato rapporto tra la cultura italiana, da Gramsci a Mascagni, e una delle grandi invenzioni musicali americane.
