Seller notes: “This is a full 3 volume set of The Ancient British Drama, published by James Ballantyne, Edinburgh, ... “This is a full 3 volume set of The Ancient British Drama, published by James Ballantyne, Edinburgh, printed for Wiliam Miller 1810, first edition. These HBs are in full leather binding with marbled paper pasted to make them look quarter calf. These are complete copies with weakness to hinges, but binding still firm. Boards have bumps to corners and gilt is not as bright as it once was, but still fully readable, as seen on photo. Pages are tanned, with occasional spots of foxing and small areas of discolouration on closed edges. Free of annotoations/inscriptions. All volumes have 'Fasque' bookplates on inside of front board, as coming from the library of John Gladstone, the Liverpool's merchant and father of the late British Prime Minister - W.E. Gladstone.”
