About this product
Product Information
Escape reality, and dive into the world of "Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version." This PlayStation 3 game originated on portable PSP consoles and was later released in HD on the PS3. Known as "Monster Hunter Freedom" internationally, this game had a release date in Japan of 2011. Take on the role of a hunter and complete challenges to find the biggest, baddest monsters around Yukumo Village. In addition, players train felynes on a farm and then take two of them along on each quest. Having companions along on a hunt makes it easier to fight off monster attacks. Each felyne is customizable with various torso parts, head parts, and weapons to choose from. This PS3 game is part of the "Monster Hunger" series, developed by Capcom, and features both single-player and multiplayer modes. Since this Capcom game is the one from Japan, the game supports the Japanese language. This means that both the subtitles and voiceovers are in Japanese. The primary focus of these "Monster Hunter" games was to craft a title that's graphically impressive. Capcom also strove to make sure that both the monsters and maps were intricately detailed for a more realistic look. When playing the multiplayer portion of "Monster Hunter" on the PlayStation 3, offline split-screen is available. This means that you play matches with a friend if you have two controllers. Like all "Monster Hunter" games, this Sony PlayStation game has hundreds of hours of content. When you wish to complete side quests throughout your adventure, these are provided to you by the Village Elder. By speaking with the Village Elder of the Yukumo Village, you receive basic training and instructions for the main quest. In comparison to the PSP version, "Monster Hunter Portable" comes with additional quests and the inclusion of 3D capabilities. The companions that assist you in fights allow you to have a chance at defeating even the most dangerous of enemies. The highlight of these PS3 games is the vast amount of creatures and monsters for you to hunt. These monsters are divided into small and large monsters. There are around 20 types of small monsters and 40 types of large monsters for you to defeat throughout the story. Three of the monsters in this edition are entirely new to the popular series. These include Aoashira, Jinouga, and Gavua. Each has different strengths and weaknesses. The key to victory is identifying what these weaknesses are in order to effectively exploit them. The amount of weapons in these PS3 games allows players to customize their fighting style for a unique character. These weapons include everything from great swords and axes to lances and bowguns. The guns and bows allow for a ranged approach while the great swords and heavier weapons are for close-range combat. Three difficulties are available from the start of these PS3 Capcom games, including easy, average, and hard.
