About this product
Product Information
Enter a bloody and dangerous world as a vengeful gunslinger in the 1880s with “Red Dead Revolver” for the PlayStation 2. Experience the game as different characters and use your power to change how the story ends. This game is designed in the style of a Western film with boomtown locales and plenty of fast and furious gunfights. Some of the levels have Red gunning down bad guys on horseback. A separate multiplayer mode offers death match-style shootouts between players. Choose from various weapons like rifles, knives, and even explosives. “Red Dead Revolver” is the first of three games in the Red Dead series, and it is notable for its full-motion cutscenes throughout. This game was developed by a subsidiary of Rockstar Games known as Rockstar San Diego and had a release date of 2004. One of the more unique features within this PS2 game is the inclusion of cheats that are unlocked in what is known as Bounty Hunter Mode. Bounty Hunter Mode is a specific gameplay type that's unlocked after defeating the single player campaign on normal mode. It tasks you with completing specific challenges. If you do, you win new characters to play with as well as new stages and numerous cheats. These available cheats provide the player with everything from invincibility to an increase in damage per shot. Once you unlock a cheat of any kind, you may use it the next time you play the story mode. During the development of the game, Rockstar Studios attempted to be as accurate as possible with the weapons they included. Some weapons you receive throughout the story are merely interpretations of historical weapons. These firearms are divided into four basic categories: revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and thrown weapons. Purchase these weapons during the story or after completing certain story missions. While you start out with a basic revolver, the upgrades throughout the story provide you with increasingly powerful weapons. These include everything from a sawed-off shotgun to dynamite. Before the beginning of each mission, you have the ability to select a sidearm, a long arm, and a thrown weapon to use from your inventory. It's important to note that if you ever wish to learn more about a character or a weapon you've unlocked, “Red Dead Revolver” includes an in-game journal for you to peruse. Sheriff Bartlett's Journal contains 350 pages of detailed information and pictures about every facet of these games. New journal pages are unlocked as you progress through the story and defeat certain enemies. As for the multiplayer mode, there are 13 maps to play on and dozens of character types to play as. This showdown mode pits two players against each other in a duel. Additional weapon power-ups are available in multiplayer that assist in giving you the upper hand against your opponents. If you love shooter games, gun down bad guys on horseback and pretend you're the hero of a Western film with “Red Dead Revolver” on PlayStation 2.
