For automotive use where the negative is the common wire or ground plane this is useless. When will some designer discover the value of the good old center zero ammeter that adorned car dashboards for decades and give us a digital version. It goes in the positive line so you can use more than one to monitor more than one load. It's also very very handy to know current bothways in all cases.
