Although Pinhas continued to release records under his own name, STAND BY closed the book--not with a whimper but with an apocalyptic nuclear blast. The piece de resistance is the magnificent electronic opus "Bolero," a cacophonous symphony of dueling guitars and Moogs, awesome percussion, and death-defying cosmic proportions. STAND BY's frontal assault includes not only includes Pinhas but also finds Magma members Patrick Gauthier and Klaus Blasquiz stirring their own fiery ingredients into the thunderous miasma. Incidentally, there's no need to embark on the Heldon odyssey by obtaining the group's tumultuous earlier efforts before partaking of Heldon's protoplasmic finale. Each of Heldon's records is an unbridled classic of progressive music in the truest meaning of the term.
