I had to return these because the photos and description did not show that they were tarnished. I messaged the seller and they wrote back that they were "not supposed to be gold" (description did say gold plate) and so "hence they tarnish". Fair enough, plate sometimes wears away after years of use and you get tarnish from the metal underneath, but no defects were listed in either the photos or the description. I would never have paid so much if I knew what a poor condition they were in!
