Demetrio Stratos ha attraversato come una cometa luminosa la scena della musica italiana degli anni sessanta e settanta, lasciando una traccia indelebile nei suoi fan e nelle decine di musicisti che lo hanno seguito. La sua morte inaspettata nel 1979, a soli trentaquattro anni, lasciò un vuoto mai più colmato nel mondo della creazione artistica italiana. Stratos è stato figura politica, interprete di un movimento rivoltoso e fantasioso, che ha trovato il suo culmine nei concitati mesi del 1977 appena prima che tutto si trasformasse in violenza. Le sue canzoni, titoli come Gioia e rivoluzione, Elefante bianco, Luglio, agosto, settembre (nero) senza minimamente concedere alle facili melodie della canzonetta italiana, sono diventati per una generazione inni di impegno e di vita. Come nessun altro autore di canzoni italiano, Stratos ha saputo imprimere alla sua arte (e alla sua leggendaria vita) il senso del tempo, la misura della storia che correva nelle strade delle città ...
