It appears that this was not the kind of cable that I was expecting it to be, though it is not necessarily incorrect in its description as it could be used to adapt a single 8pin PCIe into 2 8pin PCIe connectors, but you then need to adapt that into 1 8pin EPS power connector for the NVIDIA Tesla GPUs. This assumes the base PCIe 8pin cable is well over-rated though and is a bit dangerous so I'm not going to use this but it was quite cheap and shipped quickly so I can't really complain too much.
