I think I bought the wrong universal remote control for the model of TV that I have. Although the seller was prompt to respond to me and try to help me resolve the issue. By requesting my specific model number. I have a rather heavy 47" Toshiba Regza. So in All honesty I really didn't feel like turning it around to get the model number. I have since bought a different remote control and it works.
