A translation of a valuable historical source Gabriel Raspe was one of the early chroniclers of military unifoms producing volumes on several armies of the day. This ediotn is translated from an original copy of this rare book, rarely seen in its entirety in the west., Gabriel Raspe published a book in the 1780's on the Polish-Lithuanian Army of 1775 illustrating the various units and detailing their organization. The army illustrated in this book existed between the First Partition of Poland and the one that fought against the Russians i the Second Partition. It provides a valuable link between the pre-partition Commonwealth Army and the troops that fought in defense of the Constitution of 1791.
