Sotto questo aspetto la rappresentazione del mondo greco nei Conviviali s'inserisce nella nuova lettura, "profonda" e mitica, che ne ha dato la modernità, da Nietzsche a Freud e Jung. Proprio questa dimensione intende sottolineare Giuseppe Nava nelle introduzioni ai singoli poemi, mentre le note sono di carattere non solo esegetico e linguistico, ma anche antiquario e interpretativo, in modo da permettere al lettore di analizzare i modi del riuso degli autori greci e latini e di cogliere l'intertestualità con la lingua poetica della nostra tradizione e i rimandi interni all'intero corpus della poesia pascoliana.
