The ATS-20+ is a surprisingly good tiny communications receiver. I was using it to listen to Ham SSB broadcasts on the 40m band last night, and it was picking those up just using the supplied telescopic aerial. It has a built in speaker so there is no need to use headphones with it. The instructions say it needs headphones to act as an aerial for FM broadcast reception, but the telescopic aerial can be used instead. It even has a signal strength meter in the comprehensive (but tiny) display.
