Embrace retro-style photography with the Pentax SV SLR. This film camera body originated in the early 1960s, so there’s no batteries or electronics involved with the device. The Pentax SV SLR boasts a stylish, timeless look with a completely mechanical operation. Compatible with other Pentax lenses, this camera body’s standard lens is the Super-Takumar 1:1.8/55mm. The Pentax SV SLR camera body works best with lenses of its era. Numerous lenses were created with the “Pentax screw,” including Takumars, Auto-Takumars and Super-Takumars. The Pentax SV SLR has a focal length range from 18mm to 1000mm f/8 tele-takumar, depending on the lens used. Tamron’s interchangeable-mount lenses can also be used. The Pentax SV SLR was the first of the Asahi Pentax cameras to introduce the fully automatic aperture operation, and was often regarded as a replacement for the Pentax H3 in the U.S. market because of its addition of a self-timer, another new addition to the camera. The Pentax SV SLR film camera body’s self-timer is situated under the rewind knob with an integral film reminder dial. The self-timer lasts for 10-seconds and is set by a knob that turns around the lever for rewinding film. Next to the self-timer is a curved arrow an a chrome release button on the top plate to complement the function. On the back of the Pentax SV SLR film camera body is a yellow engraved V on the dial that indicates when the picture will be taken as seen from the camera front. The device also features a new, automatic resetting frame counter under a cover on top of the camera’s wind-lever hub. In addition to being called the Asahi Pentax SV SLR, the cameras were sometimes marketed as the Honeywell Pentax H3v model film camera. The device features manual shutter speeds up to 1/1000 of a second. The camera does not have built-in flash or a light meter, but features manual exposure modes. The Pentax SV SLR camera body features smooth controls, with a quiet slow-running fabric focal plane shutter in the Leica mold. The camera is also lightweight, weighing only 600g. The mechanical camera’s wind-on lever releases a small red “shutter-cocked” signal under the window beside the shutter release when the wind-on lever reaches the end of its travel. The Pentax SV SLR features a fixed prism and screen. The depth-of-field preview, or stop-down, is on the lens itself. Operate the slider with your left forefinger to set the camera to A, for full auto, or M, for full manual. The Pentax SV SLR film camera body takes 35mm film with either 36 or 24 exposures. The camera produces images with the size of 24x36mm. The camera originally came with a 55mm f/1.8 lens with an automatic diaphragm, but the camera is flexible to accommodate your shooting needs. The Pentax SV SLR film camera has the capability of shooting double exposures and includes an x-flash terminal and exposure counter to enhance your photography.
