About this product
Product Information
Based on TRON, the Walt Disney Pictures film from 1982, TRON Maze-A-Tron puts you in the role of a daring computer programmer named Flynn. You are zapped into the circuitry of the power-hungry Master Control Program (the MCP), a computer system seeking to control the human race.

To survive and secure peace and freedom for humankind, you must find and disable the MCP. The game is played in rounds, each round consisting of two phases -- the Circuit Maze and the Master Control Program.

The Circuit Maze has four different circuit boards and each board is made of 38 sections. You can move from board to board by stepping into I/O Transports. While scurrying around the maze, you must store up energy by entering transformers and collect zeroes by entering latches. Energy is used to power shields while zeroes are used to clear RAM chips.

You'll need shield strength to ward off and protect yourself from Recognizers and other maze enemies. You should avoid altogether electric impulses, which cannot be destroyed even if your shields are at full strength. Other maze components include: circuit wiring and resistors, which form the maze; flip-flops, which you can use to change direction of screen movement; and force fields, which you can use to disable Recognizers.

Once you have set all the RAM chips within the maze to zero, you will proceed to Phase II, the Master Control Program. Here the MCP appears in the center of the screen as a large creature working feverishly to restore the system that you shut down when you cleared the RAM chips. You must maneuver and fire a Bit-Gun along a pair of BIT Streams and a pair of BIT Stacks, which are vertical rows of zeroes and ones placed on either side of the creature. Your goal is to turn matching pairs of numbers black before they make it to the top of the screen. Watch out for laser blasts from the fiery red eyes of the MCP!

When Phase II ends, Phase I repeats itself, this time at a higher rate of difficulty. The phases continue repeating themselves until you lose three turns (lives).
