3 hours to charge up the battery and then plug it into the car power socket for longest battery life. A repeat on look carefully when you insert the TF card as the socket wobbles and you can drop the card inside the camera. (No so good.) I used a SAMSUNG A1 - V10 and it once inserted, the camera was up and running. In the car, the touch screen makes the camera really easy to use. Since my car has a reversing camera, the 2nd camera is going be set up as a useful 2nd home security camera.
