The plastic refills are extremely brittle. They break without hardly any pressure being placed on them. When my daughter tried to use them, they would break off inside her 3Doodler pen, and we were worried we could not get them to come out, but they eventually did by using brand new refills from the store. Not sure if these were exposed to extreme temperatures or are really old, or what. We aren't able to use them and will have to throw them away.
