The thermostat purchased was described as an open box item. In other words, should not have been used, but rather unboxed or a demo model. Unfortunately, the thermostat arrived clearly used for several years as it had 2 different Color’s of paint (beige and burnt red) splattered and smeared on the sides. I was in need of replacing my thermostat (exact same as the one I purchased) and fortunately when I installed it, it worked like it should.
