ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Black is a retired Emergency Medicine doctor living in Indianapolis. Educated at Lipscomb and Vanderbilt Universities, he completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. After service in the Navy, he and his wife and their three children returned to Indianapolis. His career choice was the new specialty of Emergency Medicine. In this connection Dr. Black initiated and served as Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency at Methodist Hospital. During this time his and Lou Ann's interest turned to medical mission service in developing nations where the need was so great. Also he could better combine medical practice with his Christianity. Subsequently, they served on short-term trips and then for five years at Chimala Mission Hospital in Tanzania. Following these years he served as Executive Director of International Health Care Foundation of Searcy, Arkansas. He concluded his medical career in Emergency Medicine while continuing to serve on short-term medical mission trips. He has continued writing, speaking, and serving in leadership positions in his church and nationally in Medical Missions.
