Synopsis
War often provides a stimulus to technological development. Throughout the twentieth century, new technology was harnessed to produce increasingly deadly and malicious types of explosives in the forms of booby traps, mines, delayed-action devices, and mobile charges . . . often activated in the most inconspicuous places. Intended to kill or injure, these lethal mechanisms detonate when a person disturbs or approaches a seemingly harmless object. Other times they are set off by remote control. Compellingly written and illustrated throughout with photos and schematic drawings, Booby Traps! traces the design, deployment, and effectiveness of these deadly devices, as well as the lengths armies have gone to gain an edge. Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Arcade imprint, are proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in history--books about World War II, the Third Reich, Hitler and his henchmen, the JFK assassination, conspiracies, the American Civil War, the American Revolution, gladiators, Vikings, ancient Rome, medieval times, the old West, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home., War often provides a stimulus to technological development. - s***l (11)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat seller, good value. The book arrived ina timely manner although I didn't understand why usps shipping routed the order out of state and then back when I live in the same city. I guess that's how the routes are set up. Anyhow. Good packaging although some bubble would be appreciated, it came in good condition, as described and definitely a valuable purchase. Thank you & God Bless 🙌
- l***e (114)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseVery fast service and shipping. Packaged well and with care. Item better than described. Good communication and price. Will not hesitate to deal with again. Superb seller! AAAA+++
- c***r (562)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseMost importantly, the book condition was as specified. Many thanks for that. Also, the book was delivered promptly from the US to the UK. Also, the price was reasonable for an out-of-print book. However, one point of constructive criticism: the packaging could have been much better, in order to better protect the book in transit. The book was sent in a bubble-wrap mailer only. It would have benefited greatly from cardboard packaging. Thank you very much for any consideration of my feedback.Power: A Scientific Approach (#187431076956)
