Tearing down the GBA, the board looked good after a little bit of cleanup with Isopropyl alcohol. I had to de-solder the (tiny!) power switch cover and clean the (tiny!) contacts/re-solder back together to get it working again. I'm happy to report the GBA board lives on in a new shell with IPS V5 illuminated screen; the rest of the original remaining parts I'll keep for potential future restoration projects. Thanks much!

PSP functions great. The display is bright. UMD drive whisper quiet. CONS: Battery door latch broken. The included "new battery" was poor quality, it prevented door hinge from dropping into place, therefore door would not lay flat. The video game case was cracked. I would have preferred they communicate ALL flaws in the item description along with pictures. Good luck.
