About this product
Product Information
The Konica Minolta Maxxum 35-105mm lens is a piece of optical photo equipment that will appeal to discriminating photographers. Its AF mount was specifically designed to fit the autofocus (AF) SLR line of cameras that Minolta first pioneered in 1985. Eventually, the Minolta company was bought out by Sony, so these lenses will fit many Sony DSLR models as well as older Minolta cameras. Their distinctive shape has led them to be nicknamed the "Sony beercan zoom."AF lenses focus by means of a central processing unit, or CPU, which interfaces with your photo-taking equipment. Information about the focal length and the minimum aperture is exchanged electronically, and your equipment does the focusing work automatically. A motor tightens and loosens a screw on the focusing ring, thereby achieving the desired focal length. If you try to turn the focusing ring manually while in AF mode, you may interfere with this motorized process. You can use manual focus with these Minolta lenses by changing the appropriate setting from AF to M (manual). You will need to turn the focusing ring by hand while you follow the focusing instructions that appear on your viewfinder screen. You will know you have achieved optimal focus when the image in your viewfinder appears sharp. These lenses each measure 5 inches by 5 inches by 5 inches, and they weigh 17 ounces. Their small size and relatively lightweight make them extremely portable additions to your photography bag. They support photography at focal lengths between 35 millimeters and 105 millimeters, and their maximum aperture is f/3.5 to f/4.5. This makes them particularly great lenses for portraits and close-ups. This Minolta AF optical equipment has 12 elements in 10 groups, and its circular aperture has seven blades. It also comes with a hood that offers protection against excess sun glare. This Minolta AF lens enables you to take extreme close-ups at focal lengths of 35–70mm, 35-105mm, or higher. You will need to slide and hold down on the macro release to activate this function. When properly activated, the macro release should lock the zoom grip into the desired range. To focus when you are photographing in extreme close-up range, keep turning the zoom grip. Stop when the image in the viewfinder appears sharp enough. You will see a green LED light in your viewfinder when your subject is completely in focus. After you are done with this operation, reset your lens for normal operations by sliding and holding on the macro release again.Attaching your lens is simple. If you look at your camera mount, you will notice a red index mark close to the mount. Remove the protective lens cap, and turn the barrel until the red line aligns with the mount. Carefully insert your lens into this mount, and slowly turn it clockwise until it locks into place. You should hear a little click when this happens. To remove the lens, activate the release lever on your camera, and then turn your optical equipment counterclockwise.
