Adopting Agrippina's son Nero (Hans Matheson, TV's DR. ZHIVAGO) as his heir, the Emperor hands the young man the throne by means of a false will. Nero ascends to the throne as the most powerful man in Rome, but deteriorates and finally falls due to the paranoia, guilt, and bloodlust that haunts him. Directed by Paul Marcus (PRIME SUSPECT), the film recalls its contemporary, TROY, in its epic scale and scope.
