I made a genuine mistake and paid for two items before recieving a revised invoice that would have combined postage. There was nothing I could do to correct the error, but I know the seller could have, (most ebay seller's do). He could have issued a partial refund, but didn't. He could have sent the two items in two envelopes; so I'd get what I paid for at least, but didn't. He could have upgraded the postage from 2nd to 1st class but didn't. Ebay at it's worst for the sake of £1.10.

You’d think the buyer had lost a fortune! I will donate the disputed £1.10 (including eBay’s totally unjustified percentage cut) to the next charity collector I see. That way the buyer will have his two stamps and the inner glow of satisfaction from contributing to a worthy cause; eBay will have its pound of flesh; some charity will be ecstatic at their sudden amazing windfall; and I’ll ponder what luxury I can afford with my 52p profit.

Obviously it's not about the money, it's about your morals as a seller; you happily accepted money for a service you didn't provide. £1.20 for charity sounds good to me; except I don't believe that's going to happen. And what about the minority of your customers who apparently have "more money than sense"; (clearly I'm not the first you've ripped off), will you be donating their excess payments to charity too? I don't think so.

Combined postage for himself; didn't pass on the savings. It was only an extra £1.10; how desparate for money is this seller? Wasn't even dispatched particularly fast. Ebay at it's worst; I won't be back.

Every philatelic item I offer on eBay contains the words “buyers of more than one item, please wait for invoice … to avoid paying too much postage”. The small minority who don’t, clearly have more money than sense. I recently bought 12 items from 1 buyer; I didn’t send 12 lots of postage but, sensibly, waited for an invoice with postage adjusted. I then paid, received the items and both seller and I left positive feedback. As Punch says: “That’s the way to do it!” Item sent by recommended date.
