Selten – Size Small (34-36) und bi-swing back: Mit den Typen CWU 45/P bzw. CWU 36/P aus feuer- und hitzebeständigem Nomex, löste die US Air Force 1972 den Typ MA-1 ab, dessen Nylon weder feuer- noch hitzebeständig war. Dies ist ein sehr frühes Exemplar von 1972 mit bi-swing back (siehe Bild 3), um möglichst hohe Bewegungsfreiheit zu gewährleisten. Auf Grund von Problemen mit der Sicherheitsausstattung im Flugzeug, weisen später Modelle diesen Typs diese Besonderheit nicht mehr auf. Durch den Film "Top Gun" von 1986 mit Tom Cruise erlangte die CWU 45/P ebenfalls einen gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad.”
