I believe this is Victorian cast metal? (Victorian era was influenced by Asian art.) Needs old epoxy removed and stripping before I repaint. I'm thinking that this is probably a lamp "harp" - either as pictured, the "dish" is to catch soot, or flipped, hold oil lamp (would need shade). Certainly expensive for an Asian gong arch, but perfectly reasonable for a piece of old lamp. Glad packing was so good - USPS CRUSHED PACKAGE. (No damage to metal item.) Took days after USPS said it would arrive.
