Terence Stamp is a supergrass enjoying a life of sun and sangria in Spain. Until two hit men arrive to take him back to Paris where scores will be settled. But it is they who are unsettled at Stamp's calm acceptance of his imminent death and the long journey back stretches their nerves much more than his. Stephen Frears' film was his first for 13 years but his sure touch is still evident in this taut thriller.
