The brooch is large, set in a fabulous rich yellow gold mount, which looks to be a pinchbeck. The mount is really quite fabulous with a quality scrolls to the four sides. Insert is the most stunning carved shell cameo of Greek God Zeus. Hand carved in the most incredible detail and a real piece of amazing high quality workmanship. On the back is a pin and C clasp working well and it also comes complete with a safety pin. Some shell imperfections as seen in the photos, otherwise this is the most exquisite highly carved cameo in very good original complete condition and a very rare collectable example of this subject. Cameo is approx. 5.8 centimetres or 2 1/3 inches high and 4.7 centimetres or 1 3/4 inches wide. Please see photos for more detail.”
