This is my third Zack & Zoey BLUE Fleece XS doggie vest (the velcro does wear out over time of course). I always hand-stitch two D-rings about four inches from the "collar" on the edge of the velcro strip so I have something to clip his leash onto. The velcro is very strong and lasts about two winters or more. He tells me it's very warm and comfortable.
