I collect knives and have two Gurkha knives from my time in Hong Kong. The Gurkha Regiment was station there on the main road; I think it was King's Rd. Anyway, I had two Marine Corps K-bars and spoke with the Gurkha guard at the gate. He told the Cpl of the guard who left and came back with two Gurkha's and I made the trade. This was in 1963. My two Gurkha knives are in storage. I'm 80 + and don't have the energy to go through my stuff so it was easier to purchase two more. I like the quality.

Thank-you, and for sharing your story. Some very interesting history in the wikipedia entry for kukri if you have the time to check it out! Regards ~ Kevin
