Synopsis
The 12 member committee commissioned by the National Research Council reviewed research documents and heard presentations from a wide variety of sources and organizations while compiling this authoritative review of the Bering Sea ecosystem status and their recommendations for its preservation. The, The Bering Sea, which lies between the United States and Russia, is one of the most productive ecosystems in the world and has prolific fishing grounds. Yet there have been significant unexplained population fluctuations in marine mammals and birds in the region. The book examines the Bering Sea ecosystem's dynamics and the relationship between man and the ecosystem, in order to identify potential reasons for the population fluctuations as well as identify ways the Sea's living resources can be better managed by government., This book represents the findings of the National Research Council in the study of available scientific and technical information on the Bering Sea ecosystem, focusing, in particular, on environmental factors that influence natural variability in populations of marine mammals, seabirds, and fish.

Do NOT buy from this seller!! The seller engaged in FALSE ADVERTISING. I paid for a MINT condition book & received a dirty book with a Thriftbooks sticker, extremely damaged front and back covers, torn pages, & binding that does not close properly. Before opening the package I received a message telling me the seller rated me well & to contact them first with any issues. The seller offered a meager discount on an expensive MINT condition book price. Feels to me like Bait & Switch!
