Product Information
Scott, Shakleton and Wild are three of the predominant names in the history of British Antarctic exploration. The lives of the two former have been well documented but very little has been written about Frank Wild. This biography contains the original research notes of A.G.E. Jones to build a comprehensive picture of a polar pioneer whose antarctic work began back in the beginning of the 20th century with Scott and continued with Shackleton. Born in 1873 in Skelton, North Yorkshire, Frank Wild was a vetran of Scott's Discovery expedition, Shackleton's Nimrod, Endurance and Quest expeditions and Mawson's 1911-14 expedition. He died in August 1939 in the Transvaal where he had gone to raise cotton.
